Digital Modem (DMR or TETRA)
Make use of your digital radio network to transport telemetry data using the IEC-101 / 104 protocols.
Would you like to extend your fiber network with a VHF UHF radio link? This product establishes a serial connectivition with the field equipment (RTUs, PLCs, etc...). This wireless VHF connection is optimum for Mototrbo, its sends the data via UDP and complies with the IEC60870-5-101 communication protocol. The protocol is reponsible for the acknowledgment of every command sent to the field. Should a data package be corrupted during the transfer, the data is transmitted again until the reception is confirmed.
This Motorola Radio modem is part of your single digital (voice+data) radio infrastructure. It saves you from running a seperate digital VOICE and DATA infrastructure in parallel.
IEC 60870-5 101 (DMR or TETRA)
The data modem is well-fitted for the hydo-electric power companies which make use of serial communications devices.
A TCP version of the data modem is currently under test at our facility to ensure that it supports IEC 60870-5-104 communications.
The main difference between the two protocols is that the integrity of the data packages are handled by the TCP layer rather than the IEC101 protocol layer itself. In the below set-up, the IRM is responsible for the transport layer and therefore fitted for IEC104 communiations.

SIMPLE Telemetry
For those who need a simple telemetry system using either TETRA or DMR radio link, the radios IO can be controlled using an electrical relay. The relay will be connected to PIN5 and PIN6 on the radio junction box (GMLN5089). Unlike the above data box, the junction box has no feeback signal. For any Safety Alarm Systems please select a SCADA telemetry system in the above section.
